8/14/11

Wow, I can’t believe it’s already August! I just got back from a three week course at Brown. I had an incredible time. I made some of my favorite memories and met truly beautiful people.

My sociology course was a dabble stressful. It ended with an eight page paper in which I had to collect my own data. But I really loved it. It was super interesting and it really makes me want to major in sociology now. I’m very happy about that.

The social aspect was also out of this world. I was truly very happy there. My closest group of friends are all hilarious, gorgeous, and kind people. I laughed more there than I have anywhere else. It was honestly so sad to leave.

Now that I’m home, I will be studying like crazy for all my upcoming tests and summer homework. I will also be making more videos now that I have everything with me at home. I’ve missed you guys!

7/9/11

Hello everyone! Jill did an entry on her college news so I thought I would share as well. I just wanted to update you all in terms of my college search and all.

Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to become a doctor. There was no doubt in my mind that I would major in some sort of pre medical major and then go onto medical school. This would be following in the footsteps of my grandmother. However, my life went through a flip of sorts in the form of AP Biology. I was really excited about taking biology when I first signed up for it. However, I ended up being very bored of that class.

I thought to myself… if I want to become a doctor, shouldn’t I find biology and the human systems unit intersting? I did not.

I then took a course in sociology and fell in love. This was super surprising to me. I never expected any type of love for a social science. I always expected a career in the natural sciences. It was an epiphany of sorts for me and I am now planning to major in sociology. I am even taking a summer course at one of the Ivies for three weeks to further explore sociology.

I am now eagerly preparing for my senior year of high school. I visited nearly all the schools I plan on applying to. As of right now, I am applying to seven schools. I am applying to my dream school early decision and I am applying to another school that I love early action. I know that I will be happy no matter what college I get into and end up attending, even if it’s not my dream school (assuming I get into at least one of my schools!). I am very excited. Keep me updated on your future plans :) I just love college talk!
